-In aid of the British Heart Foundation
On Saturday the 26thOctober DanceRite with its principals, Vicki and Fredric Frennessen, held their annual Black and White Gala Ball at Aldworth science college in Basingstoke. This event has become a tradition in the school’s calendar and has run for many years. On this occasion, for the second year running, DanceRite had a live band and a world class demonstration lined up. In conjunction with the Worshipful the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Councillor Dan Putty attending, the proceeds of this year’s amazing raffle were to benefit the British Heart Foundation. The scene was set for a truly amazing evening.
May I thank you for a truly lovely evening on Saturday it was a great pleasure playing for you and your dancers. The band would also like to say ‘thank you’ for the smashing food you laid on for us. – Ross Mitchell
After the welcome speech by the Mayor, the band struck up at 8pm. This year, DanceRite had the fabulous Ross Mitchell and his combo playing for their guests. Ross and his band play for the many major championships in the U.K and travel world wide providing fabulous music for dancers, shows and Grand Gala Balls. Many dance enthusiasts saw and heard them playing as recently as the International championships at the Royal Albert Hall a few weeks back.
There was also a serious element to evening which was to raise awareness and money for the British Heart Foundation and its research into heart decease. Many local businesses, dance shops and the press had assisted in helping the Gala Ball happen. With their help and some very generous raffle prize donations, the guests managed to raise in excess of £550.00 which will go towards further BHF research.

Rachid Malki & Anna Suprun, a world class latin couple, put on a spectacular five dance mesmerising cabaret to the delight of the Mayor and the guests. A well rehearsed and intricate show indeed. There were standing ovations after the show. Many of the audience had never seen such amazing and talented dancers before. A night they will not forget in a hurry.
The evening went on till midnight with fabulous dancing and music, nobody wanted to go home but sadly all good things must come to an end. Fredric and Vicki couldn’t be more delighted with the success of the evening, plans are already under way for another amazing Black and White Ball in 2014!
