We arrived in Bournemouth on Saturday night after a long day of teaching and last minute preparation prior to the big day. After a good night’s sleep (for a change!) and a hearty breakfast to set us up for the day we headed off to the beautiful Pavilion ballroom. I can easily say this has always been one of my very favourite venues to dance at: as a competitor with many of my dance partners during my career and now with all our lovely pupils.
The doors opened at 9am prompt and many excited dancers could be seen waiting eagerly to enter the building. All were keen to get changed sort out last minute hair and makeup and onto the beautiful floor in order to warm up to the maximum. Numbers were collected by all competitors just prior to 10am. What a view, a mass of very excited dancers and the most incredible mix of colours I have ever seen so early on a Sunday morning!
DanceRite had what can only be described as a truly magnificent day. We were delighted to have some new members along namely Matthew aka Mr Calm and Natalie. I have decided what ever Matthew is on we all need some, he is the most relaxed competitor we have ever seen and took the whole day in his stride. I hope he will impart his secret to all of DanceRite as it seemed to work wonders for him making all 4 finals on his very first outing! Natalie also got off to a great start with 2 semi final results in her solos and couples latin where she was partnered with Adrian, very well done.
There are so many stars, basically all of you so I have opted to give a results tally along with a winner’s notation. Note the amount of 2nd ,3rdand 4th. Our aim is convert these to 1sts next time as you are all so close to being at the very top of your events.
1st x 5 Amanda G, Stu, Sandy, Teresa, Stu and Rachel
2nd x 11
3rd x 11
4th x 12
5th x 3
6th x 2

To say we are proud of you all would be a complete understatement, what a fantastic return to dancing so early in 2012. We are so excited for your success and can’t wait to get working with you all towards your next event in Southend. Don’t delay; let us know how many tickets you need for the next competition.
Well done with lots of happy dancing wishes from Vicki
