Gosport 2016
Here is our on the spot report from Diana, this was her first (of many we hope!) adult competition
The day started extremely early at 5am which was definatley hard on a Sunday morning. Once I was up I lept straight into action did my hair and makeup which luckily went to plan, the run throughs were worth it! After a long car ride we arrived at the venue and I was petrified as it was my first adult competition, I needn’t of worried as everyone at DanceRite made it alot easier with smiling faces and words of encouragement for me. After sending my dad off to get a coffee I had a quick warm up we got our numbers and then it was time for the competitions to start.
First up was ballroom and my event the under 35’s social dance test, I was literally shaking walking onto the floor. As I started to dance the nerves melted away and I just enjoyed the moment. I thought I had messed up but to my delight I got through to the semi finals which I was really pleased with. After the ballroom section the presentation started where everyone was very supportive and cheering for each others results, this was an exciting atmosphere.
Next we all got into the crampt changing room and prepared for latin, again after dancing several rounds of rumba I was lucky enough to get to the semi finals. The atmosphere in the school was really friendly and I enjoyed getting to know some of the competitors. I think it was a really positive experience and it helped being in such an amazing environment. I can’t wait to do it all over again!
DanceRite attended this event with 24 pupils and are thrilled to report the following results:
1st place x 4
2nd place x 4
3rd place x 14 (let’s convert these to 1st’s next time!)
4th place x 6
5th place x 7
6th place x 4
Semi finalists x 12
As always we are super proud of each and everyone of you. Let’s get working as Gillingham is just around the corner.
